The A-Fond Foundation, PROJECT RUSSIA's publisher, was founded in 1995 by Dutch architect Bart Goldhoorn with the aim to support the development of architecture and design in Post-soviet Russia. Since then, its main activity has been the the publishing of PROJECT RUSSIA. Recently it has started two new journals, aimed exclusively to the Russian market - project classica and PROJECT International.

A-Fond managed to group Russia's leading architects, designers and critics around its publications. Being an independent NGO, it has become an centre for progressive architectural theory and practice, while keeping good relations with governmental, professional and academic institutions throughout Russia. It participates in virtually all exhibitions, seminars and publications in the field on contemporary architecture in Russia. In 2000, Bart Goldhoorn toured Russia's 16 main cities with a lecture and seminar about Contemporary Dutch Architecture. Furthermore, A-Fond has been closely involved in Russia's exhibitions at the Architecture Biennale in Venice in 1997 and 2000.

A-Fond can be a partner in organizing exhibitions, lectures or seminars and can be helpfull in establishing contacts between foreign and Russian organisations, for instance:

• schools of architecture organising excursions
• architectural firms looking for partners in Russia
• Russian clients looking for foreign architects
